• Pioneering innovation that drives a positive impact on the planet and people

A perspective by Indrajit Belgundi, Sr Director & GM, Client Solutions Group, Dell Technologies India.

We can best design a sustainable and resilient tomorrow by acting today!

India is a rapidly developing nation with a growing economy experiencing a range of environmental challenges. However, we still see a ray of hope amid this. With the Union Budget 2023 prioritizing green growth for economic development through sustainability1, and formulated policies to transition the country from a “linear to a circular economy”2, Indian organizations have an opportunity to build on their sustainable goals. These imply how the country is poised to accelerate sustainability.

Indian business landscape and the focus on sustainable practices

Many enterprises and business leaders have already realized why we need to address environmental challenges. Sustainability has become increasingly important for businesses as consumers, investors, and regulatory bodies demand more responsible practices. In short, the triple bottom line approach, which focuses on people, the planet, and profits, has become a critical framework for businesses to adopt sustainable practices.

According to a survey, 59% of Indian business leaders acknowledge that environmental action and profitability are positively correlated3. In fact, many new-age Indian startups are striving to create a sustainable future through their products - from reducing emissions to promoting a circular economy4.

Dell Technologies’ pursuit of building a cleaner, greener future

At Dell Technologies, we believe in 'doing well by doing good'. We prioritize sustainability as one of our core values. Along with business models that incorporate sustainability strategies, we also emphasize increasing social awareness and encouraging participation at all levels of society. This entails networking and collaborating with other partners and stakeholders to promote sustainability – from design to development to packaging.

Be it green data centres, devices made of sustainable materials, or energy-efficient servers, through all our initiatives, we are investing in circular innovation by reducing resource use and addressing growing concerns connected to e-waste. Our aim is to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. And by 2030, for every product a customer buys, we aim to reuse or recycle an equivalent product with 100% of our packaging to be made from recycled or renewable material.
