The most fascinating thing about India is that the country’s startups have continued their steep growth trajectory. Indian startups have not only increased in numbers but have also increased in scope and size. This has contributed to making India the 3rd largest startup ecosystem in the world after the US and China1. One may read that the gap between us and the top 2 is till pretty big, but I read that as the available headroom for more start-ups to grow in India.
With over 60,000 startups and 83 unicorns with a combined valuation of $277.77 Bn2, Indian startups are at the vanguard of innovation, accelerating advancements across verticals like education, healthcare, fin-tech, automobiles, sustainability, and more.
At Dell Technologies, we have been supporting Indian startups to realize their digitalization goals through various initiatives, enabling them to scale their digital journey. ASCEND was kicked off with an action-packed Startup Power Week (March 21 to March 25). The entire week was designed with various sessions and initiatives where participating startups got an opportunity to envision their digital tomorrow.
The Startup Power Week started with a launch program with NITI Aayog, focusing on empowering women entrepreneurs in India. Dell extended its support to NITI Aayog’s flagship Women Transforming India Awards (WTI) 2021, where 10 inspiring women leaders won through their roles in transforming India.
This was followed by Techcelerate, in partnership with the Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), where a group of future-forward startups and members of ASSOCHAM were invited for a day-long visit to the Dell Bangalore facility. The invitees got an opportunity to explore insights from Dell Tech leadership, and deep-dived into an end-to-end solution showcase.
Dell Technologies was also the transformation partner for the TiEcon Delhi-NCR virtual conference that highlighted different startup growth stories. With the conference theme being Unstoppable India, the participating startups were able to discover a cutting-edge portfolio of technologies and solutions that are designed to help startups thrive in the digital world.
We are constantly innovating to empower businesses of all sizes. We realize that the startup boom in India is going to expand further. Therefore, with integrated programs like ASCEND, we aim to help Indian startups soar higher while pivoting on the right technology support. After all, digital India will rise only when digitally-powered startups scale it up.
