    Authored by Dell EMC India

Digital Transformation, so far, was about disrupting the status quo of the market. But now, the games have evolved!

Today, Digital Transformation is not just about being a part of the market disruption but about bringing the disruption. Almost every present-day organization is navigating its path towards digital transformation in order to achieve strategic business goals. It’s a complex, multifaceted process that represents a massive cultural shift in the workplace and affects every part of an organization. So, how does the CIO streamline this process?

The Connected CIO event at Dell Technologies Forum 2019, Mumbai, presented an elaborate discussion on the roles of today’s CIO – straight from the minds of the CEOs. The CEO panel discussed the roles and expectations of the new connected CIO in the age where digital evolution has altered the way we live and work.

To meet the ever-evolving demands of the digital native generations, enterprises are trying to adopt digitization, while keeping technology at the core. With an aim to keep up with customer expectations and competitors, businesses today are steadily evolving. And nudging these changes are the CIOs who are striving to evolve with time.

“The connected CIO of today not only has to look at the migration to automated services but must also ensure superior customer experience.” -- H. Srikrishnan, MD/CEO, Jio Payments Bank

The panelists discussed the challenges and the opportunities of today’s connected CIOs and the ways they can empower the business. In an age where emerging technologies are disrupting every industry, the connected CIO needs to focus upon automating processes, get more actionable meaning from data, and dramatically impact the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.

Sharing an advice for the connected CIOs, Vishal Dhupar, Managing Director, Nvidia - South Asia said, “Be bold and do not compromise on infrastructure”.

The discussions also set forth a broader perspective upon how the connected CIO must engage in the development of the strategy of the organization, modernize IT and leverage emerging technologies, such as Edge Computing, 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the multi-cloud to create the digital engine that better aligns with and empowers business priorities.

Wrapping up the discussions, the CEOs stated that CIOs of today must connect the physical and the virtual worlds and deliver models that are apt for the approaching future. CIOs have already redefined the growth trajectory of the digital future, and with insights shared by the thought leaders at the Connected CIO event, it was even more plausible that the CIOs are the epitome of the inevitable change.
