Isn’t it amazing how the bygone generation could never imagine about a device that would help them connect with the entire world? And now, with the internet accessible in smartphones, all we need to do is just click and connect. In fact, some of the classic Hollywood sci-fi movies, such as Stanley Kubrick’s ‘A Space Odyssey’, had already predicted the future by showing talking computers back in 1968. What was once an imagination, today it’s a reality – thanks to emerging technologies, such as AI, IoT, Robotics, high-speed connectivity and more. Now, imagine the future of technology, 10 years down the line. Will today’s fiction, become tomorrow’s reality?
Technology innovations are intensifying our imagination and establishing an era where the seemingly impossible are becoming possible. This impact is also evident in the business world. Many organizations, today, have already started their infrastructure modernization process, which is creating new efficiencies and revenue streams. The new workforce is entering the business world with extensive technical know-how. They are running business and mission-critical workloads in a secure and flexible multi-cloud environment, while making way for optimized performance.
This leads to one question – ‘What does the next decade have in store for us?’
DELL TECHNOLOGIES AND THE ECONOMIES OF 2030
Dell Technologies collaborated with Institute for the Future (IFTF), an independent future research group, to study how the world will evolve with emerging technologies. The study found that the economy of 2030 will be primarily founded upon technical innovations from tech companies, present-day labs and start-ups. Starting from ultra-fast connectivity and optimized bandwidth with 5G to real-time decision making with Artificial Intelligence, newfound technologies will impact our economy on a large scale.
SHIFT TOWARDS A FRICTION-FREE ECONOMY – THE NEXT REALM OF HUMAN-MACHINE PARTNERSHIP
The advent of the technology evolution has already begun, underpinned by the proclivity of emerging technologies to minimize friction and establish new digital marketplaces. Some of the key trends that are expected to drive innovation and progress by the year 2030 would include:
WALKING THE TALK
Advance technology will open up new opportunities and eradicate some of the most tenacious frictions in our economy. This would be possible through in-depth understanding of technology, a sense of vision and innovative leadership. The leaders who engage with these possibilities today, do hold the capabilities to reshape the economy of 2030 for the greater good.
At Dell Technologies, we are making every effort to be the vessel that rides this wave of innovation. We enable real transformation for organizations across verticals and industries, empowering them to shift from edge to core and to the cloud. The future is not tomorrow – it is here and now, and Dell Technologies is putting in the work to build the digital roadmap that allows innovation to thrive.

The advent of the technology evolution has already begun, underpinned by the proclivity of emerging technologies to minimize friction and establish new digital marketplaces. Some of the key trends that are expected to drive innovation and progress by the year 2030 would include:
- Autonomous Commerce: The next 10 years will see machines managing their own maintenance, while assessing peoples’ needs. These will lead to the rise of the experience economy, wherein retailers will focus more on capabilities and services to serve consumers better. For instance, there are undeniable benefits of autonomous cars that can manage your driving chores without human intervention. By partnering with Dell Technologies, OTTO, a Canadian company that creates autonomous vehicles, has been able to deploy the power of the cloud, IoT, Big Data Analytics, etc., to make robotics technology accessible to their customers.
- Anticipatory Production: Micro-manufacturing will eliminate the problem of long production cycles, as will software updates. Finding new uses for existing technologies is reshaping our expectations, making on-demand manufacturing possible, while reducing risks. This is enabling leaders to predict customers’ demand and helping them introduce powerful solutions with limited resources. A successful example of this is Draper’s partnership with Dell Technologies. The company has been able to use AI to manipulate satellite imagery to be prepared for significant events in industries like healthcare, space, security, etc.
- Leapfrog Economies: Economies will benefit from technical advances and will ‘leap’ forward, side-stepping outdated systems. Accessing financial, healthcare and other services would become easier than ever, bringing down the number of dependencies. In India, we have already started working towards this possibility. Dell Technologies’ Center for Transformational Innovation (CeTI) has partnered with State Governments and NGOs to develop the Digital Lifecare Platform, which is transforming the way people access healthcare. The objective is to enable the country to enjoy its benefits through a simple Android App.
