Before we raise a cheer to the new year, it’s great to reflect on the year gone by. For us at Dell EMC, 2017 brought along a world of opportunities to further strengthen our market position and our promise to push the Digital India vision to a big reality. The year witnessed a growing momentum in India's journey towards digitization, with our country poised to be the 5th largest economy in the world overtaking the UK & France in 2018 (Source: Centre for Economics & Business Research, London) and likely to be a USD 6-trillion economy in the next 10 years (source: Morgan Stanley). This would be attributed to the adoption of key technologies and policies across sectors fuelled by the Digital India initiative. It gives us a feeling of pride as well as responsibility, and puts more enthusiasm in our efforts to enable Digital India.
At Dell EMC, we are overwhelmed by the national and enterprise-level transformation towards digitalization. Over the past year, Industry 4.0 has been the buzzword and the central govt. and most state governments have been trying to digitise all services, create apps, offer a better, more transparent, and simpler customer experience, while cutting down on time delays, corruption, etc. Smart City projects and new technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Virtual & Augmented Reality, DevOps, to name a few, are bringing change to the enterprises, adding pace to our economy’s digital dreams.
We see our role in all this as one of the ‘catalysts’ who helps customers and the ecosystem transform rapidly. Especially following the merger between Dell and EMC and under the astute leadership of Michael Dell, we have now emerged as the single point of contact for customers embarking on a digital transformation journey. The product portfolio, thanks to the integration, has become so rich and broad that our vision to become the most essential infrastructure company is now a reality.
Over the past one year, we have presented to the world a slew of tech innovations. Thanks to our continuous investments in R&D and 22,000+ patents, we are equipped better to be a true transformation catalyst.
We have lined up a great set of launches in 2018, with the latest generation of servers and storage products, PCs, notebooks and workstations. Our Dell Precision 5520 Anniversary edition laptops, Latitude laptops, and OptiPlex Business desktops—on the back of their superior performance and premium features–are transforming the workforce of tomorrow, today. We also have put our best foot forward in the space of AR/VR – Augmented Reality/ Virtual Reality, and are coming up with innovative products.
At Dell EMC, we have retained our leadership position in multiple categories of our products. Today, we have 15 different products and technologies that are in the Leadership quadrant of the Magic Quadrant from Gartner. And obviously, how I can close my year-end note without talking about our much sought-after India Dell EMC Forum 2017 where we helped CIOs and IT practitioners realize their digital dreams.
Greater optimism with the New Year
With an anticipated $150-billion IT infrastructure opportunity driven by the Digital India initiatives, I am quite optimistic about the digital future of our country in general, and Indian enterprises in specific. And to play an active role in fulfilling the digitized future, we, at Dell EMC, are well positioned to deliver transformational technology solutions.
Our thought leadership in the digital transformation area will remain and we’d like to be known as a company that helps transform the business from a customer’s point of view and, also to be an employer of choice.
And in line with this, we will keep exploring diverse ways to enhance the availability of our products across the country. We are diversifying into the government space, more specifically the government and public sector and banking. I sincerely hope the New Year brings along endless opportunities, innovations and success for our country and its mission of digitization, growth, and prosperity.
